Lynda Carter

Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is English and has Scots Irish ancestry as is her mother, who is Mexican and Spanish. She has one brother, Vincent and one sister, Pamela. Carter was just 5 years old when she made her public TV debut on the Lew Kings Talent Show. At the time of high school, Carter joined a group named Just Us. The band played a marimba, conga drum as well as an acoustic guitarist as well as a stand-up bass that was played by another girl in the group. Lynda started singing in a pizza shop when she was 15.  She joined her cousins' group, The Relatives, when she was 16. The drummer of the group was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The band first began at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen due to being younger than 21. After being recognized as "Most Talented", Carter decided to leave the school to pursue a career as a musician. Carter auditioned for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. The group then embarked on a tour together with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance was held in the Holiday Inn Chinatown in San Francisco that was so new , it didn't have a sidewalk entrance. The hotel's staff as well as hotel guests drove their cars into the underground parking garage which meant that they were performing to them. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" which included in a number casinos in Nevada. Carter was able to quit the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting and went back to Arizona.
