Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She's written 15 books, and she is co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news site and a television host, author, and philanthropist. Her birthplace was in Greece and moved to England at age sixteen. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA of Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president in the famous debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took on the role. She was a conservative syndicated writer after the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online voice platform with a critique of current political scenarios. Her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to run as an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the Governor Davis. Additionally, she led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her as one of as one of the "most influential female" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her president of the media group that also includes the other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is a daughter born to Konstantinos the manager's advisor as well as a journalist. Although she was a close friend to her father, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her character. Even as a young girl she displayed leadership qualities which she is still renowned for. Her move to England came at 16, to pursue her education and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the debate societies in the college which she later became the first female and foreign president. In 1972 she received an honorary degree in Economics. After her graduation she became a columnist, critic and TV host. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she started writing her own books with his assistance.
