Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist as well as the owner and editor of The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England at the age of 16 and received an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president of the highly regarded debate group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. Her popularity as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she completed her studies. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online platform for voice that gave critiques of the politics. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors for posting their thoughts on news, politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent in California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. Forbes identified her the most powerful female in the media industry in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as 12th on the ranking. The Guardian also included her to the list of 100 most influential media in 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the President of AOL's media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Their parents are Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was a management consultant and journalist. Her character was formed by her closeness to her mother and her bond with her dad, despite her being very close to her father. In her earliest years she showed leadership abilities which are still widely admired. When she was 16years old, she emigrated from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined Cambridge Union's college debating societies which she later became the first foreign female president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and a television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
