Lucy Liu was born in America. She is an American actor, singer and voice-over artist. Being a smart and beautiful actress, she serves as a role-model for many Asian actors who are in Hollywood who wish to make it big. Following a string of early performances in popular shows she achieved fame after joining the team of the legal comedy series Ally McBeal where she played the sly Ling Woo. The new fame she gained was translated into roles that were filmed on the large screen in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels and other films. Following that, she gave an an excellent acting performance on Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill Volume 1 as Japanese crime lord O Ren Ishii. At the same time, she also played leading roles in several films that failed at the box office, such as Rise: Blood Hunter. In later years, she worked as an actor in voice for animated movies, such as Kung Fu Panda. Small screen roles such as Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia did not yield results. Southland, the critically-acclaimed drama police show that Liu played regularly and has helped her regain her status as a an internationally acclaimed actress. Liu is extremely cautious when selecting her roles in order that she does not become cast in a very intensely competitive field. While she's been embracing her roots she has not let them limit her as an artist.
