Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only superstar to have moved from the country to mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift removed the influences of country in the sense that they had been added as an extra layer of skin, revealing she was among the best singers/songwriters of her generation. Swift could make the moment personal or harness the moment to benefit. Swift's early songs, including her neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. But her 2008 album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and gaining a huge following. Fearless was an enormous success not just in the United States which is where the Top Ten singles Love Story, and You Belong with Me helped it to achieve six platinum records as well as around the globe. It was a huge success across Canada, Australia and the U.K. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior popularity and launched the singer into superstardom. With her subsequent three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she found herself in a world of pop music with a clear sense of where she belonged. Her popularity grew even after she changed her strategy in 2020's more streamlined siblings folklore (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
